Golder Associates (7,800 employees) has turned to OnePlaceMail to encourage adoption of its SharePoint project workspace

Golder Associates, a global company providing consulting, design, and construction services from 160 offices worldwide and with nearly 7800 employees, has turned to OnePlaceMail to encourage adoption of its SharePoint project workspace.

“When we trialled OnePlaceMail it was an immediate fit, as the drag and drop features embedded directly into Outlook and provides staff with an efficient and easy to use tool for the management and migration of project information into the specified SharePoint libraries,” said program manager Greg Stimson.

“The success of our OnePlaceMail adoption can be measured by the amount of emails and attachments brought into the project workspace – and this is growing daily,”.

The ability to save critical email into the project workspace was identified as an essential element in terms of information management and collaboration; however, it was the need to make it easy for the user to save emails and automatically capture email related metadata direct from Outlook that led to OnePlaceMail.

Utilizing their intranet, with SharePoint as the principal platform, Project Managers create ‘project workspaces’ for all project related documentation – enabling better collaboration and knowledge sharing across the many projects which Golder Associates is managing around the world.

Microsoft Office coming to iPad soon?

With Microsoft already having it’s Office suite running on Mac speculation is rife that having Office running on iOS isn’t far off. Industry watchers are already predicting Office on the iPad in 2012.


Office 15 to Provide Significant Boost to Microsoft’s Revenues in 2013

Office 2010 was a huge hit and sold more than 100 million licenses. It showed an 8% increase in revenue last quarter, compensating for the lull in Windows sales. However, sales are expected to slow down considerably in 2012, as it becomes more than 2 years old. It recently launched Office 365, an on-demand, cloud based version of the Office Suite, in order to capture the growing cloud based productivity software market, in which Google Docs is emerging as a serious competitor. Office 365 sales have been picking up, but they are still too low compared to sales of Office 2010.

We expect Windows 8 sales to lift Microsoft’s revenues in 2012, followed by a further boost in 2013, with the launch of Office 15. Microsoft currently has a 94% share in the office productivity software market, which is expected to decline marginally over the forecast period, due to increasing competition from alternatives like Google Docs and Zoho Office.

Working with multiple email accounts in Outlook–sending from a single account

Do you have multiple email accounts in Outlook 2010 and find you are sending out email from multiple addresses when you only want to send email from one account?

For example I have 2 accounts in Outlook, my personal email account (Cameron Dwyer) and also


If I reply to an email that arrives in the CustomerService account it will default to sending it from CustomerService.


I have to remember to change the sending account from CustomerService to Cameron Dwyer (Microsoft Exchange).


Rather than having to always remember this and double check which account I’m sending from, I have setup email signatures to help remind me.

To manage signatures, compose a new email and select Insert | Signatures | Signatures… from the ribbon


Now create a ‘warning’ signature that you will use as a visual reminder that you are sending from the account that you really don’t want to be sending from. In my case I have created a signature called ‘CustomerService Warning’ and created a bold message that I shouldn’t miss.


Now for the important part. In the top right of this dialog change the Email Account to ‘CustomerService’ and choose to use the warning signature for both New Messages and Replies/Forwards.


For your normal user account, ensure you specify your standard email signature.


Now we have everything in place.

If you open an email from the CustomerService account and try to reply/forward it you should see the following.


Changing the account in the From dropdown to you personal account automatically removes the warning signature and inserts your standard signature


This works well for HTML based email. I have noticed that Outlook will not insert the signature if you try to forward/reply to an email that is in plain-text format.
