Microsoft has teamed up with WAND to provide pre-built foundational taxonomies in a variety of fields and expertise. This provides a great strating point for your organisation if you are looking at putting a taxonomy structure together yourself in SharePoint 2010.
The free General Business Taxonomy download consists of common functional areas that exist in most businesses.
